Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to introduce students the basic methods used in technology of protection and treatment of industrial and domestic effluents. For evaluation of pollution scale and removal of the pollutants are used modern statistical methods.

Summary

Environmental protecting and especially water ecosystems protection requires cleaning of wastewater point sources. The level of protection is usually assessed according to the produced and discharged pollution. This course includes information about basic methods in water protection and cleaning of various types of industrial and municipal wastewater. -The basic legislative requirements and standards -The quantity and quality of waste water -Biological load -Sewage disposal -Contaminants -Waste water sewage from plant, animal and industrial production -Wastewater treatment technologies -Sludge management -Small WWTP -Monitorig - data collection -Statistical evaluation of data

Subject syllabus:

1.Water and its importance. 2.Basic terminology, structure and types of water. 3.Hydrosphere, the main negative influences, protection options. 4.Water management development. The concept of water management policy of the CR. 5.Water management. The main basins and basins´ areas. 6.Water legal system - development and current states of legal regulations. 7.Atmospheric waters, surface waters, ground waters, drinking water and mineral waters. Quality requirements. 8.Status of distribution of drinking water. Water needs and consumption. 9.Water treatment. The characteristic of pollutants, the ways of pollution expression. Development and current status of wastewater treatment in Europe, CR. Sewerage. 10.Water structures of CR. Classification by purpose. 11.Stratification, eutrophication, 12.Acidification. 13.Revitalisation of watercourses. 14.Floods. Flood Protection.
