Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

After completing the course, students will be familiar with the issue of water regime of the landscape, they will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in solving specific applications in the field of irrigation or drainage. Students will be able to propose suitable measures for sustainable water management in the landscape.

Summary

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issue of influencing the water regime of the landscape by means of drainage and irrigation equipment. The main emphasis is placed on the identification of already built facilities, their maintenance and possible removal, together with the design of suitable irrigation systems for sustainable water management in the landscape.

Credit will be awarded for processing the calculation of irrigation for a specific location. The exam will be written and then oral.

1. Introduction 2. Water regime of the landscape 3. Water demand for supplementary irrigation according to ČSN 750434 4. Definition and division of individual types of irrigation 5. Definition of micro-irrigation and its subdivision and design 6. Division, definition and design of spray irrigation 7. Theoretical principles of underground drainage 8. Funcke and drainage channels design 9. Protection of the area from external waters in the form of dikes 10. Design and location of drainage pumping stations 11. Function and design of horizontal drainage 12. Hydrological and water management balance 13. Legislation of surface and groundwater
