Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim is to acquire the physical-chemical process, called flotation, both in theory and in practical terms. In the labs, students evaluate the effectiveness of using the flotation treatment of municipal and industrial water, and also for potable water treatment.

Teaching methods

Experimental work in labs

In this subject the students explained the principle of flotation, its importance in the treatment of minerals and waste, are familiar with chemical and physical Flotated the ongoing storyline, flotation reagents and their mechanisms of action, flotation devices and flotation methods of different types and raw materials. The theoretical basis for practical follow-up exercises in the lab, where students will apply the method of flotation on the specific samples of raw materials.

Compulsory literature:

CROZIER D. Ronald: Flotation-Theory, Reagents and Ore Testing.Pergamon, 1992,ISBN 0-08-041864-3.

Recommended literature:

Current publications about flotation.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Students will elaborate papers on basis of excercises during a semester. The subject is finished by writting exam.
