Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Based terms and notions, current trends in landscape management, inclusive of environmental legislation. The aim is to characterize the landscape as phenomena, to identify and to know problems of land use, to introduce students to landscape research and investigative methods and their application.

Summary
Landscape ecology. Landscape ecology is treated as a dynamic interdisciplinary field based on functioning of ecosystem principles.Processes and dynamics in landscape, Typology and regionalization, Stability, Human perception, landscape typology, data visualisation, island biogeography, urban ecology, ecological stability, landscape planning, International Association of Landscape Ecology and schools in the field, sustainable development and other issues create the body of this course.

Subject syllabus:
1. Landscape, landscape type, landscape component, landscape element, landscape segment - definition and meaning. Basic principles of landscape ecology.
2. Landscape typology, criteria for landscape typology, typology according to the intensity of human intervention in the landscape, according to the method of use and according to geomorphological properties.
3. Ecological systems in the landscape, concept of ecosystem, ecotope, biocenosis. Landscape structure, methods of arrangement in landscapes.
4. Enclave - origin, size, significance of the shape of the enclave, marginal effect, species diversity of the enclave. Islands in the landscape - origin, function and significance.
5. Corridors - origin, function, types, corridors around watercourses, draws and boundaries. Matrix - determination, essence, heterogeneity of the landscape matrix.
6. Dynamics of the landscape - origin and development of the landscape, natural processes. Landscape development, socio-economic factors of landscape development, anthropogenic influences on individual landscape components (soil, vegetation, fauna, climate, etc.).
7. Gradient of landscape modifications - natural to urban landscape. Stability and instability in the landscape.
8. Greenery in the landscape - forest and non-forest. Production and non-production functions of greenery in the landscape.
9. ÚSES. Landscape. Sustainable Development. Land improvements.
10. Carrying capacity of the landscape. Ecological characteristics of degraded areas (industry, urbanization).
11. Landscape restoration – landscape restoration technology according to the type of devastation. Landscape restoration methods,
