Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the subject is to get students acquainted with the ecology and systematics of microorganisms as a basis for better understanding new trends on the application of these approaches in water environments and wastewater treatment.

Teaching methods

Lectures
Experimental work in labs

Summary

The first half of the lecture focuses on overwiev of microbiology and brief history of mikrobiology, structure and function of procaryotic and eucaryotic cells, nutrition and growth microorganisms, the microbial diversity and phylogeny of microorganisms in the environment The second half of the lecture focuses on the application of these approaches in water environments and wastewater treatment.
