Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
To know and be able to explain the physico - chemical properties of dispersed suspensions, flocculation kinds of reagents and their application; mechanism of flocculation, flocculation kinetics.
Identify and discuss the parameters influencing the progress of flocculation and selective flocculation.
To evaluate the practical application of selective flocculation and flocculation.

Summary
The course provides information about physical-chemical properties of dispersed suspensions, flocculants, parameters affecting the course of flocculation and selective flocculation, flocculation mechanism, flocculation kinetics, practical application of selective flocculation, stage flocculation.

Subject syllabus:
1. Physico - chemical properties of dispergated suspensions. Electrokinetic
slurry properties, electrokinetic potential and stability of suspensions, dispersing agents, the possibility of increasing the stability of suspensions.
2. Flocculants. Division, selective properties of flocculants, adsorption mechanism of flocculants.
3. The mechanism of flocculation, flocculation kinetics, activators, depressants, modifiers in the selective flocculation, selective flocculation physical parameters.
4. The parameters influencing the progress of flocculation and selective flocculation.
5. Practical application of selective flocculation.
6. Flocculation by stages, a combination of selective flocculation with other procedures, application of selective flocculation.
Practice:
Practical verification of flocculants in sedimentation tests, tests of selective flocculation on selected types of suspensions, the influence of bioflocculants, applications of flotoflocculation.
