Summarize methods of treating industrial waste water by various industries. Discuss new technological processes of wastewater treatment methods, including electrochemical and membrane processes. Design modification options effluent treatment.

Summary

Lectures summarize the different methods of cleaning industrial wastewater and process solutions according to their predominant pollution. The focus of the study is asked to process sewage characteristics, suitable for various types of wastewater. The course emphasis is placed on designing different versions of specific industrial wastewater treatment.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures: 1. Industrial waste water (IWW) - their composition, conditions for discharge into public sewer, the conditions for discharge into the recipient, the nature of pollutants, an overview of cleaning methods 2. Aligning the flow and load. Methods of mechanical cleaning of IWW, the nature of sedimentation and filtration (racks, traps gravel, sand, grease and oils) 3. Mechanical cleaning methods IWW, filtration processes, equipment used, processes of sedimentation (sedimentation tanks, ponds, hydrocyclones) 4. Membrane processes - distribution processes, semi-permeable membrane, the arrangement of modules, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, dialysis, electrodialysis, characteristics of processes, an example of use in the treatment of IWW 5. Separation of light particles - gravitation separators of fats and oils, to use the device, an example of use in the treatment of IWW; - flotation process-characterization, free flotation, pressure flotation, elektroflotace, applicable equipment, example of use in the treatment of IWW 6. Neutralization, extraction, stripping - characteristics of processes, examples of use in the treatment of IWW 7. Precipitation reactions - the characteristics of the process, precipitation of heavy metals (hydroxides, sulfides); precipitation anions, examples of use in cleaning IWW precipitation, neutralization station layout 8. Redox reactions - oxidation process characterization and reduction, oxidizing and reducing agents, examples of the use of oxidation and reduction in cleaning IWW 9. Adsorption - adsorption equilibrium, adsorption kinetics, factors affecting adsorption, adsorbent characteristics, method of use of adsorbent, adsorbent and examples of their use in cleaning IWW 10. Ion exchange - process characteristics, properties and ion exchange separation, carriers of functional groups, regeneration of ion exchangers, used in cleaning IWW 11. Breaking stable emulsions - the characteristics of the process, anionic stabilized emulsions respectively. non-ionic surfactants, an example of use in the treatment of IWW;-thermal methods - distillation, evaporation, combustion, an example of use in the treatment of IWW 12. Clarification - the distribution of colloids and their stability, characteristics of the process (coagulation, flocculation, separation of flakes), coagulants, flocculants, coagulation with a combination of flotation, electrocoagulation, an example of use in the treatment of IWW 13. Biological treatment in anaerobic conditions - comparison of aerobic and anaerobic processes, characteristics of anaerobic process diagram anaerobic decomposition of organic substances, factors affecting mechanization, cultivation of anaerobic biomass, anaerobic reactors and their use in the treatment of IWW, the incorporation of the reactor, the choice of the type of anaerobic reactor 14. Biological aerobic treatment - process characteristics, technological parameters of activation, the description of activated sludge, types of activation, activation aeration tanks, nutritional elements, examples of using activated cleaning IWW 15. Sludge processing technology - the basic properties of the sludge, the classification of sludge, sludge thickening, sludge stabilization, sludge dewatering, the final sludge treatment Laboratory exercises: 1. Mine water treatment by precipitation using sodium aluminate 2. Cleaning the chrome waste water reduction ferrous sulphate 3. Waste water from thermal coal carbonization 4. Cleaning starch wastewater 5. Mine water demineralization by electrodialysis

Conditions for subject completion and attendance at the exercises within ISP: Compensation for mandatory participation in the ISP will be the elaboration of a semester paper on a topic assigned by the lecturer. The course is completed with an oral and written examination.
