Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of this course is to acquaint students with issues of establishment, maintenance and protection of vegetation in settlements and in the rehabilitated areas.

Summary

The course deals with the importance of greenery in the industrial and mining landscape, the issue of establishing greenery and vegetation elements of industry and mining influenced places. The knowledge of the basic assortment of plants for individual types of treatment, technology of plantation, cultivation systems, maintenance care is a part of the course. An important part is familiarization with the specifics of planting plan processing and related operations.

Credit and Exam Semester project - working on a complete study of the vegetation element solution and oral defence solutions - credit. Determination of wild, ornamental and horticultural plant species with significant characteristic of their use - part of a combined test.

Subject syllabus:

1. The importance of greenery in the industrial landscape and in the headquarters. 2. Establishing greenery - definition. Passportization of greens. 3. Issues of establishing greenery and vegetation elements in an urbanized area and in an industrial landscape. 4. Annuals, biennials - assortment, establishment technology, cultivation systems, maintenance care 5. Bulbs, perennials - assortment, planting technology, cultivation systems, maintenance care 6. Vegetation elements in containers and on the structure – assortment, establishment technology, cultivation systems, maintenance care 7. Shrubs and trees – hedges, linear and area vegetation – establishment methods, establishment of area (bed) planting of shrubs, maintenance care. 8. Point planting of trees. Transplanting mature trees. 9. Lawns and meadows. Green curtains. 10. Maintenance projects – content and methods of processing, evaluation of cost effectiveness, intensity classes of maintenance, cost optimization, green management. 11. Analysis of work operations, finishing and development care. 12. Cultivation measures – definition of content, basis for design. 13. Bidding - preparation and details of the price offer for the establishment and maintenance of the work of garden creation.

Mandatory attendence participation: The importance of greenery in the industrial and mining landscape, the issue of establishing greenery and vegetation elements in areas affected by industry and mining. It includes knowledge of the basic assortment of plants for individual types of treatments, establishment technologies, growing systems, maintenance care. Mandatory participation in subject exercises. Credit is awarded on the basis of a completed small garden improvement project. Oral exam, answers to two questions.

Conditions for subject completion and attendance at the exercises within ISP: Compensation for the mandatory participation in the ISP will be the preparation and presentation of a seminar paper and the preparation of a projects. The course is completed with an oral examination.
