Students will be able to understand the problems of history of the sciences and the technique and application of knowledge in the area of brownfields.

Subject syllabus:

1.Elementary terms (historic buildings, monuments with international status, The list of the historical monuments, immovable/movable heritage, protected heritage areas, technical monuments, industrial archeology, institutionalisation of technical monuments (TICCIH, chart of Moscow, ERIH). 2. Protection of the technical monuments, conversion (Emscher Park, SEE, New Lanark, Iron Bridge, Vitkovice Ironwork, coal mine Michal). 3. The standards of the value in the area of technical monuments, the special term of their authenticity (the last working day), the typological maintenance, the development od the science (the energetic sources, the materials) and the protection of their typological signs 4. The development of the branches – the water motors (the water mills, water turbines), the wind motors 5. The development of the branches – the heat motors (atmospheric and steam engines, the distribution systems in the steam engines, the steam turbines), boilers, 6. The development of the branches – electromotors 7. The development of the branches – power industry 8 Coal mining - coal mining and mining ( mining towers , hoists , sorting and treatment of coal ) 10. Metallurgy and coke (blast furnaces , steel mills , coking plants) 12. Textile Industry (factoring system, focused factories , factory production – spinning 13. the food industry (mills, silos, granaries, malt, beer, sugar, distillery) 14 Contemporary architecture in the historic environment, renewal of urban settlements, conversion of industrial buildings to new uses, espetially in brownfields
