The subject is intended for doctoral students having rather deep knowledge of ecology, whose work is concerned with landscape issues. The subject contains conceptions and principles of ecological landscape research. Landscape structure. Patches of land. Corridors. Matrix and networks. Landscape dynamics. Natural processes in a landscape. Geomorphology. Soil development. Biotic component in a landscape. Natural disturbance. Human activities in landscape development. Flows and interactions in a landscape. Movement of plants and animals. Landscape ecological stability. Landscape typology. Types of landscapes in Central Europe. Cultural and industrial landscapes. Devastated landscape. Landscape assessment methods. Landscape process modelling. Landscape planning and management.
