Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is an introduction with the new technologies of processing and disposal of waste

Teaching methods

Individual consultations

Summary

The course is focused on the deepening of knowledge obtained in previous studies in the field of technology focused on the treatment of waste and secondary materials. It provides a comprehensive view of technologies for the material and energy recovery of waste. In the area of material usage, procedures based on the principles of recycling of waste materials or recycling are discussed in detail. In the area of energy utilization, the attention is focused on the basic methods, including: a) waste incineration with the production of electricity and heat b) the pyrolysis of waste with the utilization the generated syngas c) the thermal gasification of waste also focused on the utilization of syngas d) the gasification of waste through anaerobic treatment (cold gasification) with the utilization of generated biogas. Other waste treatment technologies can be placed in the category of disposal / removal of waste, which includes incineration without recovery or low energy use, plasma processes and waste landfill (stored permanently in the country or on the ground). To the necessary extent attention is also paid to the related legislative requirements.
