Summary

The subject contains basic knowledge of the area of ecology and the environment; it deals with environmental factors and their acting, with the population, community (relations, interactions). Special emphasis is put on the function of ecosystems (food relations, trophic chains, energy in ecosystems and ecosystem productivity) and application of thermodynamic laws to ecology. Further, the subject deals with the biosphere and noosphere (biosphere source, utilisation of energy and mineral resources, food security) and expected ecological crises.
