Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Course is devoted to the basic information on degradation processes in soils and soil protection. It includes water and wind erosion of soils, soil contamination, inorganic and organic pollutants in soil, acidification, sampling and analyses of soil water and soil air.

Subject syllabus:

1. Degradation processes in soils. 2. Soil properties relevant to soil degradation. 3. General soil erosion equation. 4. Causes and consequences of water erosion of soil. 5. Causes and consequences of wind erosion. 6th Erosion control measures. 7. Soil contamination by industry. 8. Soil contamination by agricultural activities. 9. Contamination of soils by mining and processing of minerals. 10. Harmful substances in soils. 11. Soil contamination assessment. 12. Contamination of soils by remote transmission of pollutants and critical loads. 13. Ecological stability of the landscape and soil protection. 14. Land degradation in agriculture. 15. Degradation of forest soils. 16. Protection of agricultural land resources. 17. Protection of the forest soil fund. 18. Thermal methods of soil decontamination. 19. Physical-chemical methods of soil decontamination. 20. Biological methods of soil decontamination.
