Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the subject is to get acquainted students how to solve selected tasks of data analysis, to design some special data structures (OLAP, etc.), analyse given situation and to propose effective procedures of processing.

Data modelling. Functional dependency, relation scheme design, normalisation process. CASE modelling. ODBC. Data import, data processing, data export. Exploratory data analysis in DB environment. User definition and access rights. Forms development. reports development. Macros, programming modules. Case study in powerful RDBMS.

Subject syllabus:

1) Koncepce tvorby datového modelu. Funkční závislosti, návrh relačních tabulek a jejich normalizace. Zásady návrhu databáze. 2) ODBC a jeho praktické využití. 3) Import dat, zpracování dat v databázi, export dat. 4) Průzkumová analýza dat v databázi – ověření konzistence, integrity, naplnění, využití číselníků. 5) Definice uživatelů, skupin a přístupových práv. 6) Řešení modelového příkladu. 7) Tvorba formulářů, jejich propojování. Tvorba sestav. 8) Využití maker. Využití programových modulů. 9) Ukázka práce v prostředí velkého RSŘBD.
