Students are able to name basic commands for UNIX admnistration or administration of GNU/Linux.
Students are able to apply theoretical knowledge for installation of software for geoinformatics to UNIX systems.
Students are able to select an appropriate operating system and its components for a selected implementation.

Summary
The subject is focused to operating system UNIX and its variants such as GNU/Linux. The sublect is dealing mainly with configuration of the system with focus to efficient administration of the system. Basic scripting languages for the system are taught as well.

1) UNIX operating system and its clones.
2) History of UNIX OS.
3) Principles of control through OS UNIX command line.
4) OS UNIX commands.
5) GUI for the Unix OS.
6) Fundamentals of UNIX OS administration.
7) Development environment, installation and administration.
8) The application for the development of information systems based on UNIX OS.
