Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
The aim of the subject is to give information students about basic principles, subject of study and methods of geography in every discipline. Practical knowledge will enable them to make appropriate analysis and find relevant solution and interpretation.

Summary
The course includes basic knowledge of geographic sub-disciplines. Geography is separated on the basic division Physical geography and Human geography with emphasis on the systematic approach and understanding of internal connections and links throughout system. The aim is focused on Physical geography (planet geography, geomorphology, hydrology, meteorology, landscape ecology). The exercises will be attention paid to basic research methods and sources of geographic data as well as work with them. Aims of the course will be directed to using the acquired knowledge in the others subjects (digital terrain models, human geography etc.).
