Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the subject is to give information students about principles of geographical information systems and their application in regional analysis. Students should be able to propose and practically realise basic tasks needed in the frame of regional analysis, to prepare adequate outputs and to interpret obtain results.

Summary

This subject is useful for students using geographic information systems and other GI technologies for regional analyses. Although this subject is focused mainly on socioeconomic activities, a substantial part is also focused on physical geography (mainly environmental issues). The student will learn how to collect available data, process it and display using maps.
