Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of theoretical and practical informatics. Practical knowledge will not be focused on any particular operating system. Students will be able to perform basic challenges in operating systems Windows and UNIX. After completing this subject students receive a general overview of the field of information science.

1) Introduction to Computer Science, Information, numerical system 2) Introduction to Operating Systems, file systems, advantages and disadvantages 3) Computer Networks 3) Principles of Web technologies, HTML, development of the Semantic Web, CMS 5) Internet technology, Internet services, and security threats while working with the Internet 6) Introduction to graph theory, graph algorithms use in geoinformatics 7) Electronic Publishing 8) Publishing in the LaTeX typesetting system 9) Introduction to propositional logic 10) database systems
