Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will become familiar with geoinformation technologies. Students will be able to create maps, search maps on the Internet and publish maps online. They will also be able to use satellite imagery, digital terrain models and use these technologies for the purpose of geotourism.

Summary

The course introduces students with basic knowledge of Geoinformatics, including geographic information systems, digital terrain models, remote sensing, unmanned airborne vehicles, global positioning navigation systems. The course will provide students with practical information on the various disciplines with a focus on the application of this knowledge in the study field. Students will be able to create basic maps, work with GPS receivers, become familiar with piloting and legislation in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles. They also will be able to work with satellite images and maps in the Internet environment.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Knowledge is checked during the semester by means of semestral projects. The course is completed with an exam, which can be taken after obtaining the credit. The exam has an oral character.

Study of recommended literature. Elaboration of projects assigned at seminars, oral exam verifying knowledge in the field of the given literature, content of lectures and seminars.

Introduction to cartography, cartographic methods 5. Maps in the Internet environment 6. Digital terrain models 7. Remote sensing - introduction, platforms and carrier in remote sensing 8. Remote sensing - remote sensing data processing, indexes, classification 9. Unmanned aerial vehicles - introduction 10. Unmanned aerial vehicles - legislation, data processing 11. Global positioning navigation systems - introduction 12. Global positioning navigation systems - GPS, measurement accuracy 13. Possibilities of using geoinformation technologies in geotourism

Possibility of personal or online consultation. Participation in exercises according to the student's possibilities. In order to receive credit, it is necessary to develop projects in the scope specified in the exercises. Assignment of projects available via MS Teams in the course of the same name.
