Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Abilities demonstrated after the end of the course: ability to orientate in the assigned topic; ability to independently design solutions and solve problems in a given topic; ability to write a professional text and work with literature independently; ability to present and defend the results of own work before an expert committee. Skills demonstrated after the completion of the course: the student manages professional communication and presentation of the results of his work, is able of independent search for professional texts, can apply all his skills, knowledge and experience gained during the study.

Summary

Goal of Master thesis seminar is to help students finish their master thesis and prepare them for a succesful defence of their thesis. By processing and delivering a master thesis the student proves that he/she acquired all skills, knowledge and experience gained during his studies and he/she is able to apply them during a stand-alone work on tasks given in the master thesis. Requirements for a succesful course passing: a) successful passing of two presentations where student presents in front of a board composed from academical staff of the Department of geoinformatics his/her advance on the Master thesis work, b) prepared, before the deadline submitted (see a schedule of the academic year) master thesis approved by its supervisor.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

1. Continuous check of the state of the work during the student's consultations with the supervisor. 2. The student's obligation to present the status of his/her diploma thesis in two presentations realized in front of a committee composed of academic staff of the Department of Geoinformatics.

Subject syllabus:

1. Diploma thesis assignment. 2. Principles of diploma thesis preparation 3. Introduction and explanation of the essence of the faculty directive for the preparation of the diploma thesis. 4. Principles of citations and work with literature. 5. Content processing of the theoretical part of the work, structure of the work. 6. Research of the current status of the assigned topics. 7. Solution of the practical part of the work - design of the solution. 8. Solution of the practical part of the work - implementation of the solution. 9. Compilation of the syllabus of the diploma thesis text. 10. Elaboration of a working version of the diploma thesis. 11. Review of the working version of the diploma thesis. 12. Preparation of the final version of the diploma thesis. 13. Presentation of the diploma thesis and its defense before an internal committee.

Mandatory attendence participation: Attend at least 80 % of classes. Sucessful passing of regular presentations showing progress in solving of the diploma thesis. Information about regular presentations are being sent by email to all students in the beginning of semester.
