Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
1. To analyze problems which are possible to solve within project management framework
2.To identify the project management phases and steges.
3. To formulate the objectives and outputs of the project.
4. To developm the work breakdown structure, the time chedule and the budget of the project
5. To assess and evaluate the feasibility, effectiveness and efficiency of the project.
6. To apply various project management methodologies including US PM BOK, EU Project management cycle and UK PRINCE2.

Summary
The course provides an introduction to project management in an international environment. The main objective of the course is to get acquainted the participants with the theory and art of project management as a field of research and practice. After explanation the basic terms and concepts of project management it describes the development of this discipline from the history to present times. Then it explains the systems view to project management and the role of projects in strategy implementation and organization of project management. It describes the international standard Project management body of knowledge, which is broadly accepted in world project management community and covers project management process groups and phases: project definition, planning, execution, control and closure. It presents the philosophy of European Commission Project Cycle Management and Logical framework approach to project management and a concrete example of PRINCE2 project management methodology used in UK and many other countries. Course is completed by short excursion to international environment of project management.
