Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The objective is to develop student’s knowledge in the field of object-relational and NoSQL databases dedicated to spatial data and spatial tasks, and increase his/her capability to utilize spatial databases in case studies with topics related to the theme of his/her PhD thesis.

Summary

The course is focused to storage, indexation, maintenance and querying of spatial data in object-relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL+PostGIS and in NoSQL databases (namely graph, document, multidimensional) such as Gephi, Hadoop, MongoDB, storage of vector, raster, TIN and lidar data, extension of SQL for spatial operations, advanced methods of indexation of spatial data, spatial trajectories, data mining of spatial data.
