Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

This subject is introducing basics as well as advanced methods and principles of geovisualization - its history, development and current trends. It is focused on methods of 2D and 3D spatio-temporal geovisualization and their use in GIs with emphasis on Big Data and Visual Analytics. Another part of the subject is focused on standards and formats for storing of spatio-temporal data. Content: 1) History and development of geovisualization. 2) Basic terms, type of geovisualization methods. 3) Basic pronciples of visualization. 4) Visual Analytics. 5) Time and its perception in relation to geovisualization. 6) Introduction into Visual Analytics in relation to spatio-temporal data. 7) Method of Partition Based Clustering in Visual Analytics. 8) Method of Density-based Clustering in Visual Analytics. 9) Visual Analytics and trajectory and movement data. 10) Standards in geovisualization. 11) Interactivity, virtual reality and augmented reality.
