Summary

The subject develops and deepens the complex knowledge in the field of geoinformation technologies focusing on the current trends in data acquisition on transport systems, their evaluation, integration and harmonization of data to ensure cooperation with software tools enabling large scale optimization calculations for the management of processes running in transport systems. The subject will create a thematic link especially on courses focused on telematics tools applied in transport and on the optimization methods used in the management of transport processes.

Subject syllabus:

1. Geoinformation technologies in transportation (GIT) – their overview, importance and a typology of solved problems 2. Principles and methods of the main GIT – GIS, GNSS, RS, DMR, computer cartography and geoweb 3. Principles of localization a georeferencing, current trends and cooperation with localization systems 4. Spatial data sources –parameters of data quality, data usability and data integration 5. Specific forms of spatial data sources - high definition maps, crowdsourcing etc. 6. Spatial databases - principles of data modelling, storage and transformation of spatial data, analytical possibilities. 7. Big spatial data – methods and procedures for their processing. 8. GIT application for spatio-temporal analysis of mobility of persons and goods. 9. GIT applications for dynamic and real-time traffic applications (traffic monitoring and traffic constraints on transport networks). 10. GIT applications for rescue systems. 11. GIT applications for public transportation systems (monitoring, measurement, modelling). 12. GIT applications for transport solutions in smart cities. 13. Spatial regression modelling and its application in transportation. 14. Cooperation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and optimization software. 15. Design, construction and operation of geographic information systems.
