Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to formulate the basic concepts and relations of the issue of air protection - Improve existing knowledge gained from the course environmental protection and environmental legislation - Be able to demonstrate their acquired knowledge into practice - Be able to analyze problems concerning the various activities associated with protective atmosphere - Be able to properly present and formulate their knowledge. - The ability to define the basic concepts associated with protection and management of air quality - Ability to characterize air pollutants - Ability to characterize and categorize the sources of air pollution - The ability to determine the technical and organizational measures for air pollution sources - The ability to navigate in legislation related to the issue of air protection - Ability to apply theoretical knowledge of mathematical modeling of dispersion of pollutants in the air. - Ability to analyze air quality data from the Air Quality Information System (ISKO).

The course focuses on basic knowledge in the field of air, such as pollution sources, types of emissions and reducing their number, legal adjustment of air and analytical methods in this area.

Subject syllabus:

lectures 1. Air. Basic concepts and characteristics. Pollution and air pollution. Air Protection. Second air pollutants. Breakdown of pollutants. Solid and liquid pollutants. Gaseous pollutants. Pollutants from a global perspective. 3. Classification of pollution sources. Pollution of natural and anthropogenic origin. The concept of air pollution sources. Mobile sources of air pollution. Global estimates of emissions. 4. The main industrial emitters in the country. Production of energy. Industrial Technologies, (metallurgy, production of non-ferrous metals, building materials industry). Services company. 5. Technical abatement opportunities. Technical measures at sources. Device for trapping particulate emissions. Capture dust, mechanical separators, electric separators, filters. 6th capture and disposal of gaseous pollutants, removal of acidic substances, reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides. Polishing agents on charcoal. 7th air protection legislation. Act no. 201/2012 Coll., On air protection. Related legislation (government regulations and decrees). 8th dispersion of pollutants. Methodology for determining the scattering ZL. Mathematical models of the spread of ZL. 9. Analytic Methods in air protection. Methods for measuring particulate emissions. Methods for measuring emissions of gaseous pollutants. Organization measurements. Air Quality Information System (ISKO).
