Information about important aspects of research work, chemical literature and intellectual property protection. Students learn how to search relevant information and how to write thesis.

Summary

Workshop to the theoretical part of thesis. Introduction into chemical literature, literature search, how to make citation, structure of thesis, intellectual property and its protection.

Compulsory literature:

Literature to the bachelor thesis.

Recommended literature:

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Subject syllabus:

Theoretical part: 1. Chemical literature sources. Primary, secondary and tertiary literature. Introduction to the art of collecting data, writing and reading scientific papers in chemistry.The use of informatics methods to solve chemical problems. 2. Chemical Abstracts and their structure, printed and computer version. 3. Beilstein's Handbook of Organic Chemistry. Gmelin. Important chemical encyclopedia. 4. Protection of intellectual property. Quoting literature and structure of bibliographic records in accordance with international standards ISO 690 and ISO 690-2. The patent literature. 5. Computational techniques of chemoinformatics. Electronic databases. Using a SciFinder. Chemistry and Internet. 6. The structure and requirements of the bachelor, respectively diploma thesis. Practical part: Research to the theoretical and experimental problems related to thesis.
