Deepen the knowledge of the relationship between by chemical coupling, structure and properties of compounds and substances, the application of this knowledge to new prospective inorganic materials.

Summary

Obecná anorganická chemie – vztah mezi chemickou vazbou, strukturou a fyzikálními a chemickými vlastnostmi anorganických sloučenin. Vazby a stereochemie kovalentních sloučenin, pevných kovových a iontových látek. Termodynamická stabilita oxidačních stavů. Reakce v iontových, oxidových a kovových taveninách. Kyselost, zásaditost a oxidační schopnost oxidových tavenin. Syntéza anorganických sloučenin v roztavených solích. Příprava a charakterizace anorganických nanomateriálů. Chemie kovových f-prvků, využití lanthanidů v metalurgii.

Subject syllabus:

1. General inorganic chemistry. Trends in the properties of s, p, d , f elements and their compounds. 2. Structures and stereochemistry of covalent compounds. Links and structure of solid metal and ionic substances . 3. Acids, bases and ions in aqueous solutions. Oxidation , reduction and thermal properties of inorganic compounds. 4. Thermodynamic stability of oxidation states - Frost diagrams . 5. Non-aqueous reactions - the ion , and metal oxide melts . 6. Acid-base and redox reactions in molten salts and oxide melts . Acidity , alkalinity and oxidising ability of oxide melts. 7. Synthesis of inorganic compounds in molten salts . 8. Preparation and characterization of inorganic nanomaterials. 9. Chemistry of metal f - elements. f - orbitals and oxidation states . Inorganic compounds 4f - elements - lanthanides and selected 5f - actinide elements (Th, Pa, U, Pu), their similarity with elements of the 4th 5th and 6 group. 10. Use of the lanthanide in metallurgy having regard to the stability of their oxides and sulphides.
