The aim of the subject is to have students acquainted with the basic analytical methods used in chemical laboratories.

Summary

The subject is focused on giving lessons of classical and instrumental analytical methods, which are used in current laboratories. Teaching is conducted in the form of computational and laboratory exercises.

Subject syllabus:

1. Introductory lesson - information on laboratory exercises, safety, laboratory rules, prerequisites, working groups, etc. Basic calculations - composition of multicomponent systems, preparation of solutions. 2. Calculations based on a chemical equation; Calculations using the mixing equation. 3. Basic analytical operations (weighing, preparation of solutions, pipetting, titration); Exercises: Pipette calibration (1); Determination of the molar concentration of a standard sodium hydroxide solution (2). 4. Gravimetric analysis: Gravimetric determination of iron (3). Determination of water neutralization capacity (4). 5. Argentometric determination of chlorides according to Mohr (5). Chelatometric determination of calcium and magnesium (water hardness) (6). 6. Determination of chemical oxygen demand by permanganate (7). 7. Potentiometric determination of pH (8). Determination of chlorides and iodides by potentiometric titration (9). 8. Conductometric determination of specific electrolytic conductivity of water (10). Determination of sulphates by conductometric titration (11). 9. Determination of chlorides by ion selective electrode (12). Refractometric determination of volume concentration and freezing point of Fridex (13). 10. Determination of turbidity by turbidimetric method (14). Determination of nitrates in water by UV spectrophotometry (15). 11. Validation of a method for the determination of nitrite in water by VIS spectrophotometry (16). 12. Determination of magnesium, silver and iron by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (17). 13. Substitution of the missing tasks, repetition of calculations. 14. Credit test, credit.
