- student will be able to describe blast furnace charging - student will be able to demonstrate normal, outer and inner furnace work - student will be able to characterise tapping of pig iron and slag

Teaching methods

Summary

Principles of blast furnace process. Processing, charging and distribution of blast furnace burden. Blowing-in, blowing-out and banking of blast furnace. Irregularities and their control : channelling, scaffolding, scabs, hanging, slips choking of hearth, chilled hearth, burning of tuyeres. Stove operation Oxygenation and humidification of blast. High top pressure. Technology of auxilliary fuel injection. Tapping of pig iron and slag. Cleaning of blast- furnace gas. Perspektives of blast furnace technology.
