- The student will be able to describe the principles related to the production of pig iron and steel production and processing of steel - The student will be able (at the elementary level) to work with relevant literature - The student will be able to present the selected metallurgical technology

Summary

The students may have practice during this course in companies and institutions, which correspond to the focus field of study. Students may complete the Study Branch Practice in the workplace at VSB-TUO. A field trip (can be overnight) in branch-oriented companies and institutions, especially in the Czech Republic, may also be realized during the course.

[1] Articles in magazines in the fund of the Central Library, Technical University of Ostrava, e.g. Hutnické listy, Iron & Steel Technology, ISIJ International, Metallurgical and Materials Transaction, Revue de Métallurgie, Scandinavian Journal of Metallurgy, Stahl und Eisen, Steel Research International, etc. [2] Articles in the scientific publications from e-resources, such as Springer Link, Scopus etc. or specialized databases, such as Metadex, Metal, etc. [3] Proceedings of the conference, such as SteelSim, ISST, METAL etc.

Subject syllabus:

Before starting his own practice (usually the middle of the semester), the student contacts the head of this course and request the content of practice. Students express agreement with a term and practice. The student notifies the onset of the practice on the day of practice start. Student properly performs the practice. The student shall inform the guarantor of the subject of barriers to regular exercise the practice. The student notifies the end of practice, submit the certificate of practice, including evaluation of the student responsible worker.
