Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able to formulate : - basic principles of ironmaking - principles of reducing processes in blast furnace - perspectives of steelmaking in converters, tandem and electric arc furnaces - oxidizing processes at steelmaking

Teaching methods

Individual consultations


Raw materials and preparation of blast furnace charge. Sintering and pelletizing of iron ores. Principles of ironmaking. Reducing processes in blast furnace. Processes in oxidizing limits of blast furnace. Backset of charge and gas and heat transfer. Technology principles of blast furnace melting and process controlling. Oxidizing processes by steelmaking, steel of steel desoxidation, steel quality, steel desulphurization and dephosphorization.Steelmaking at convertors, tandem and electric arc furnaces, steel refining outside oven,steelcasting. Kind of pig irons and separation of steels.

Lectures 1. Part Iron - The history and development of iron and steel production in the world and in CR. - Raw materials and the preparation of blast-furnace charge. - Sintering and pelletizing of iron ore. - Reduction processes in the blast furnace. - Oxidation processes in Undertow charge and gas. - Fundamentals of management of blast furnace process. - Alternative metods of ironproduction. - Types of raw iron. 2. Part of Steel - List and steel processes. - Oxidation processes in steel production. - Deoxidation of steel. - Cleanliness of steel inclusions. - Desulphurization anddephosporization of steel . - Production of steel in converters, electric furnaces, and tandem. - Secondary steel refining. Casting of steel. - Distribution of steel produced. - The influence of types of pig iron and steel for recycling metal waste.
