Student will be able formulate : - basics principle of pig iron production and blast furnace pig iron production - perspectives of metallurgy - principle of pyrometallurgic and hydrometallurgic production

Teaching methods

Summary

Metals yesterday and today. Metals as chemical elements, affinity to oxygen, principle of pyrometallurgic and hydrometallurgic production. Lightweight metals: aluminium, magnesium, titanium - production and usage. Heavy metals: copper, stannum, lead, zinc, nickel - production and usage. Alloys and alloying. Principle of pig iron production. Blast furnace pig iron production. Technology and equipment. Quality control and ecological aspects. Perspectives of metallurgy.

Subject syllabus:

Výroba koksu a jeho vlastnosti. Výroba aglomerátu a jeho vlastnosti. Vysokopecní pochod. Protiproud plynu a vsázky. Redukce oxidu železa. Rozpouštění prvků v železe. Struska a odsiřování. Vysoká pec a její příslušenství. Technologie výroby surového železa. Palivoenergetické zabezpečení výroby železa a užití náhradních paliv. Kovy a jejich roztřídění. Úprava rud. Pyrometalurgické pochody. Přehled kovohutnických pecí. Technické rafinační pochody v hutnictví. Hydrometalurgické postupy získávání kovů. Výroba mědi, zinku a niklu. Výroba ušlechtilých kovů. Výroba hliníku, hořčíku a jejich slitin. Výroba wolframu, molybdenu, titanu. Radioaktivní kovy.
