Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

- The student will be able to describe the principles related to the production of pig iron and steel production and processing especially in the frame of his diploma thesis. - The student will be able to work competently with literature. - The student will be prepared foreign literature (at least 3 foreign sources), and 3 other literary sources classifiable to the diploma thesis.

Summary

The aim is to acquaint students with the procedures for processing data from the literature, consultation and control over activities related to the processing of diploma thesis.

Compulsory literature:

[1] Articles in magazines in the fund of the Central Library, Technical University of Ostrava, e.g. Hutnické listy, Iron  Steel Technology, ISIJ International, Metallurgical and Materials Transaction, Revue de Métallurgie, Scandinavian Journal of Metallurgy, Stahl und Eisen, Steel Research International, etc. [2] Articles in the scientific publications from e-resources, such asSpringer Link, Scopus etc. or specialized databases, such asMetadex, Metal, etc. [3] Proceedings of the conference, such as SteelSim, ISST, METAL etc. [4] The requirements for a diploma thesis under guidance of Department 618, which are available from: http://katedry.fmmi.vsb.cz/618/ [5] The principles for developing the diploma thesis according to the guidelines of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, are available from: http://katedry.fmmi.vsb.cz/618/

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Individual tasks will be awarded with a weekly schedule. The tasks will work during the exercises. Students of combined study will send their analysis of literature through e-mail. There is a 3 points penalty for each week of delay of tasks checking in after the deadline.

Subject syllabus:

For full-time and part-time study: Understanding the requirements for the diploma thesis (DT). Basic documents related to DT: Requirements for development DT and Principles for the development of diploma thesis (see http://katedry.fmmi.vsb.cz/618 Discussion the source literature to DT, the rules of citation, the format and scope of DT. common objectives and individual departmental seminars, and the method used during the ongoing evaluation of the tasks performed will be defined. At the end of the semester will control tasks and analyze how they are processed. Consultation during the writing of DT as appropriate. The granting of credits.
