Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

- student will be able to demonstrate regularities proceeding at steel casting and solidification - student will be able to formulate micro-segregate and macro-segregate processes in steel - student will be able to characterise defects of ingots and continuously cast blanks

Teaching methods

Individual consultations

Subject is read with the purpose to understand the basic regularities and processes proceeding at steel casting, solidification and crystallization of steel (by the help of practical exercises), the conditions of homogenous and heterogeneous nucleation of crystals, the micro-segregate and macro-segregate processes, the defects of ingots and continuously cast blanks, the theoretical and technological aspects at steel casting into the ingot moulds as well as on the continuous casting machine.
