Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

-student will be able to characterize metallic materials for the manufacture of castings. -student will be able to formulate principles and metallurgical processing of foundry alloys. -student will be able to describe the material properties for the type of casting. - student will know the process and methodology of complicated and time-consuming tests ratings liquid phase metal materials based on visual methodology.

Summary

The course is aimed at deepening knowledge on alloys of ferrous and nonferrous metals. It deals with the classification properties of metallic alloys and their analysis using different methodologies. The intention is to show the wider context of the production technology of metal alloys and their useful properties.

Subject syllabus:

· Partition classification of cast iron, mechanical properties, the proportion of iron alloy iron castings. · Raw materials for melting iron, steel stock, the alloying elements, slag´s ingredients. · melting units for melting iron. Melting in cupola. · melting in induction and arc furnaces, fiery furnace. · Changes of chemical composition, influencing the crystallization process, etc. -Casting of non-ferrous metals. · melting non-ferrous metals, smelting units, physico-chemical processes for the preparation of alloys. · gases in non-ferrous metal alloys, methods of degassing melts. · Solidification and cooling of metals and alloys, influence of primary crystallization. · Vaccination and modifications. · Metallurgy and technologies based on copper alloys, aluminum and magnesium zinc alloy, nickel, titanium, tin, lead for foundry use.
