Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Student will able:
to know the rules for using quartz and non-quartz base sands;
to know processes of the cooling effect control of a foundry mould;
to explain kinds and importance of base sands surfaces and principles of their
measurements;
to know types and means for reclamation of foundry base sands;
to analyze physical and chemical nature of binding property and strength of moulding
mixtures;
to explain principles of classification of binder systems of the Ist up to IVth generation;
to design a binder system for the given technological process of casting manufacture;
to explain physical principles of binding the mixtures of the IIIrd generation;
to describe chemical hardening processes of inorganic and organic binders
(condensation, polymerization, addition, copolymerization).

Summary
Evaluation of quality of the artificial and the natural opening materials.
Regeneration, quality of regenerate. Natural sand sorts. The inorganic and
organic bonding agents. The interaction of bonding agent vers opening
material.
The activation of opening material, the CO2-process, the SO2-process, the Hot-
Box and the Cold-Box route. The method of full mould. The special technology
of
preparation of moulds and cores for artistic castings. The plaster moulds
(hardened mixtures), the investment pattern, the organic bentonites, cement
mixtures, the Shaw-method, the silicon-rubber method, the LOST FOAM, the
Replicast.

Regeneration, the quality of regenerate.

Special technology of molds and cores art castings.
