Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able: to explain metallurgical processes during melting of iron and nonferrous metals; to describe manufacture of castings from cast irons and nonferrous metals; to know material and foundry properties of cast irons and nonferrous metals; to apply influencing of primary crystallization of alloys.

Fabrication of castings of alloys of non-ferrous metals, melting of alloys of non-ferrous metals, meting units, the physico-chemical processes in preparation of alloys, gases in alloys of non-ferrous metals, methods of degassing of melts.Solidification and cooling down of metals and alloys, influencing the primary crystallization, inoculation and modification.

Subject syllabus:

· Partition classification of cast iron, mechanical properties, the proportion of iron alloy iron castings. · Raw materials for melting iron, steel stock, the alloying elements, struskotvorné ingredients. · melting units for melting iron. Melting in · kuplovnách. · melting in induction and arc furnaces, fiery furnace. · Changes of chemical composition, influencing the crystallization process, etc. -Casting of non-ferrous metals. · melting non-ferrous metals, smelting units, physico-chemical processes for the preparation of alloys. · gases in non-ferrous metal alloys, methods of degassing melts. · Solidification and cooling of metals and alloys, influence of primary crystallization. · Vaccination and modifications. · Metallurgy and technologies based on copper alloys, aluminum and magnesium zinc alloy, nickel, titanium, tin, lead for foundry use.
