Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

student wil be able to describe development of metal melting and casting technologies; student wil be able to form a time axis of development; student wil be able to identify individual prehistorical and historical civilization centres; student wil be able to demonstrate examples of important artefacts from individual historical development phases.

Concise development of metallurgy and foundry from the Chalcolithic Age over the Bronze Age and the Iron Age up to the artistic performances of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Crete, Greece and Roma. The plastic art of the early and supreme Middle Ages, of the Renaissance and Baroque. The sculpture of the 19th and 20th century in our country and in the world.

Lectures: 1.-2. prehistoric metallurgy, civilization centres , Midle East, Egypt, India,China, Grece, Rome, melting techniques, molding techniques 3. Seminary – significant prehistoric cast artefacts 4. Copper metallurgy from prehistory to modern period, 5. Seminary - significant bronze object of art 6.-7. History of bell casting – material, design, molding material, molding techniques, significant world bells, significant bell founders 8. History of iron metalurgy , direct reduction of the iron ore, melting techniques 9. History of cast iron, melting, molding, use of castings 10. Visit of museum Frýdlant art cast iron 11. Seminary- significant architectural cast iron monument, sculptures 12. malleable iron, cast steel beginning 13. History of mining education, VŠB history 14. Final seminary, defence of semestral papers
