Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Student will be able: -to describe basic types of foundry moulds and their use for casting manufacture; -to know principles of using different types of moulding mixtures, their properties and application for particular casting kinds; -to know a process of designing and calculating the gating systems; -to explain principles of positive and negative directional solidification; -to solve static and dynamic uplift pressure of moulds and cores; -to explain the formation of the most important casting defects; -to know principles of casting manufacturing methods using in particular the increased pressure on metal surface, of shell moulding, and investment casting.

Additional study materials

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Individual tasks will be awarded with a weekly schedule. The tasks will work during the exercises. Students of combined study will send their analysis of literature through e-mail. There is a 3 points penalty for each week of delay of tasks checking in after the deadline.
