Summary

Drawing is subjekt in which students engaged in converting real-life situations in two-dimensional form. For work with a model-geometric still-life. Importantly perspective and spatial orientation.

Subject syllabus:

Lecture 1. Fundamental concepts and theories of representation in a drawing. Height estimation. 2. Perspective and principles of its representation. Space representation, representation of perspective shortcut. Horizontal line, vertical line, axial symmetry, vanishing point and other terms. 3. Specific drawing media, their differences in working technique, suitable use = drawing technologies. 4. Space and shape. Representation of volumes in spatial interaction. Effects of artificial and natural light. Structure and modelling – tonal value. Representation of height, depth, area of transparency, plasticity. 5. Surface. Properties of shapes, materials and their representation. Different surface types, contrast in plasticity, colour, texture, etc. 6. Historical and contemporary personalities. Study of drawing record reproductions, especially by sketching in the area of design. 7. Visit to a gallery. Exercise 1. Linear drawing of basic geometric objects in pencil. 2. Drawing of proportionally and spatially demanding situations. 3. Drawing in natural charcoal. Still life in linear representation. 4. Space-dimensional record of reality. Tonal value (light gradation). 5. More complicated structures of geometric still life, with focus on the problems of perspective shortcut. 6. Drawing work with emphasis on the ability of recording different surface properties, texture, gloss, mat, soft, hard material 7. Drawing from memory. Expressions of assumed reality through drawing (simple geometric objects) with all aspects of drawing rules in the sense of spatial orientation and ability to describe the given reality through drawing. 8. Open-air drawing – drawing in an urban landscape, stylization, again based on the basic geometric elements.
