Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

-­ to define thermodynamic quantities and thermodynamic laws ­- to utilize the fundamental thermodynamic quantities (enthalpy, entropy, Gibbs energy) for the system behaviour describing ­- to describe the chemical equilibrium – to monitor the dependence of the equilibrium constant on state variables (dependence on temperature, dependence on pressure) ­- to describe the phase equilibrium, Gibbs phase rule, phase equilibrium of pure substances ­- to define and to utilize basic terms of chemical kinetics - homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction, rate of chemical reaction, kinetic equation, order of reaction, rate constant ­- to monitor the dependence of the reaction rate on temperature and on pressure ­- to describe basic processes of heterogeneous reactions – diffusion, adsorption; to determine the rate-limiting process for heterogeneous processes ­- to apply gained theoretical knowledge in routine

The topic of the subject is chemical thermodynamic and chemical kinetic and their application on the chemical and physical processes.

Subject syllabus:

Přednáška: Chemická kinetika – klasifikace reakcí, základní pojmy (reakční rychlost v homogenních a heterogenních soustavách, řád reakce, molekularita reakce, mechanismus úhrnné reakce). Integrované kinetické rovnice izolovaných reakcí. Rychlostní konstanta a její závislost na teplotě. Základní články heterogenních reakcí. Teorie reakční rychlosti. Elektrochemie – elektrolyty silné a slabé, proces rozpouštění elektrolytů, elektrolytická disociace. Silné elektrolyty - aktivita, aktivitní koeficient, Debye - Hückelova teorie, součin rozpustnosti. Rovnováhy v roztocích slabých elektrolytů - vývoj pojmu kyselina a báze, konstanty acidity a bazicity, hydrolýza solí, pufry, amfoterní elektrolyty. Elektrická vodivost elektrolytů, převodová čísla. Elektrodové a redoxní potenciály, elektrody a jejich klasifikace. Galvanické články chemické a koncentrační. Elektrolýza, Faradayovy zákony, technické využití, chemické zdroje proudu. Koloidní chemie – klasifikace disperzních soustav, disperzní stupeň, rozdělovací funkce velikosti částic. Obecné fyzikální vlastnosti disperzních soustav - difuzivita a sedimentace, osmotický tlak a membránové rovnováhy. Adsorpce na pohyblivém a nepohyblivém fázovém rozhraní. Fázové disperzní soustavy, molekulární koloidy, micelární koloidy.
