The topic of the subject is theoretical foundation in the area of application of the physical chemistry principles to particular technological processes.

Way of continuous check of knowledge in the course of semester

Podmínky pro udělení zápočtu na cvičení: - 100 % účast na teoretických cvičeních – 2 body - účast na teoretickém cvičení menší než 72% poskytuje možnost neudělení zápočtu - úspěšné absolvování jedné samostatné zápočtové (výpočtové) písemky, max. 28 bodů Bodové hodnocení zápočtu: - zápočet - min. bodů 10 - zápočet - max. bodů 30 V celkovém zisku bodového ohodnocení zápočtu musí být obsaženo nenulové hodnocení výpočtové písemky (min. 10 bodů za písemku). Písemku lze opravit pouze 1 krát. Bodové hodnocení zkoušky: zkouška je kombinovaná - písemná část zkoušky - max. bodů 20, min. bodů 7; - ústní část zkoušky - max. bodů 50, min. bodů 14. V celkovém zisku bodového ohodnocení zkoušky musí být obsaženo jak nenulové hodnocení výpočtové zkouškové písemky tak nenulové hodnocení vlastní ústní zkoušky, tzn.student musí absolvovat obě části zkoušky. Bodové hodnocení předmětu se získá součtem bodů za cvičení a za absolvování zkoušky. Výsledná klasifikace je dána podmínkami ve Studijním a zkušebním řádu VŠB - TUO.

Subject syllabus:

1. Physical chemistry, its significance in technological processes. Chemical thermodynamics - heat capacities, definition, classification. 2. The First law of thermodynamics, analysis, application. 3. Enthalpy, heating and coolling of substances, reaction enthalpy. 4. The Second law of thermodynamics – some application for chemical and physical equilibriums. 5. Equilibrium constants and different forms of expression for homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions 6. Phase equilibrium. Gibbs phase rule. Phase equilibria in one-component two-phase systems. 7. Liquid solutions, properties, description of solutions, thermodynamic models of solutions. 8. Chemical kinetics – basic terms (rate of chemical reaction, molecularity, order of reaction, reaction mechanism). 9. Kinetics of homogeneous simple reactions. 10. Kinetics of heterogeneous chemical reactions, elementary steps in heterogeneous reactions, diffusion, adsorption. Application in technological processes. 11. Liquid metals and liquid metal oxide systems, structure, physicochemical properties (viscosity, surface tension, adsorption). 12. Physical and metallurgical aspects of gases in molten metal, the Sievert's law.
