Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Acording to the purpouse of the course, students will get to know the basic rules of creating technical documentation in engineering. Furthermore, within the subject, students will learn about the basics of the field of engineering technology in the areas of preparation and production of semi-finished products and their transformation into a finished product. Particular emphasis will be placed on the following technological branches: Basic concepts of chip machining, terminology, principles of basic machining methods. Theoretical and practical familiarization with production techniques and technological possibilities in the scope of turning, milling, drilling (roughing, reaming, countersinking), boring and grinding. Then welding with flame and electric arc, pressure methods. Weldability of steels. Basic methods of surface treatments. An integral part of the course will be familiarization with the basic procedures for the design of a machine structure, its analysis from the point of view of voltage behavior, identification of critical points, voltage control of basic structural nodes and elements, determination of the technological production process.

Summary
The subject aims to master the reading of information from technical documentation and to understand the technological processes required in the production of engineering components. Students will be introduced to the methods of dimensioning and tolerating engineering components and the standardization of basic engineering components. Furthermore, the subject presents a general overview of the available technologies of chip machining, welding, finishing and surface treatment of machine components. An integral part is also a basic overview of the field of strength control of selected types of machine nodes and components.

Other requirements
Based on the acquired knowledge, the student should be able to independently prepare the production documentation of a machine component or a simpler machine assembly. Assess and decide on suitable technologies for its production, propose a technological procedure and establish the basic limiting conditions for its deployment in operation.
