Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

The student will be able as follows: - to define and compare basic types of alloys based on nonferrous metals used for casting manufacture; - to know principles of metallurgical treatment of individual foundry alloys; - to gain an ability of designing a suitable technological process for manufacture of castings from basic types of alloys; - to analyse nonferrous metal casting defects.

Teaching methods

Summary

Production of castings of alloys of non-ferrous metals in the world and in the Czech Republic.Review of non-ferrous metals and their application at the foundry. Theoretical questions of melting non-ferrous metals and their alloys. The physical and chemical processes at preparation of alloys. Pick-up of gases into alloys and method of degassing.
