Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
to define material and foundry properties of cast irons;
to know metallurgical processes during cast iron melting;
to explain inoculation, modification, desulphurization, and deoxidation processes during cast iron treatment;
Teaching methods
Summary
This subject represents the theoretical basis of outside-furnace processing of
liquid cast iron. With utilization of knowledge and the thermodynamic and/or
physico-chemical effect exerted by the main (significant) elements in cast
iron
their reaction in molten cast iron is described and explained in detail.
