Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

to interpret results of simulation programmes of foundry processes; to know the principles of economical casting design; to know the means of computer support of foundry technologies; to analyse the casting design feasabiliity.

Teaching methods

Summary

Principles in the design of castings. Requirements for the optimum design. Proposals of castings. The computer’s simulation of metal feeding into foundry moulds, solidification and cooling-down of castings, examination of structure and prediction of the mechanical properties.
