Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences

Students will be able to choose on the casting drawing a dividing area, allowances, and will bevels. Students will be able to design gating, risers and vent forms. Students will be able to devise a procedure for cleaning the casting. Students will be able to calculate the load form against buoyancy.

Summary

Principles in the design of castings. Requirements for the optimum design. Proposals of castings. The computer’s simulation of metal feeding into foundry moulds, solidification and cooling-down of castings, examination of structure and prediction of the mechanical properties.

Subject syllabus:

Lectures 1. Role and status of operation scheduling of technology in the foundry. 2. Documentation of casting manufacturing process. 3. Position of casting in a mould. Practical examples. 4. Internal holes and passageways of a casting. Core choice. 5. Buoyancy force calculation. Clamping and weighting of moulds. 6. Gating system design. 7. Riser and feeding design. 8. Venting system of gases. 9. Cleaning and inspection of castings. 10. Principles of pattern manufacturing. Practice 1st home safety training, the role of technical preparation of production 2nd sequence of technological operations in the foundry 3rd reading drawings, recognition of machined surfaces 4th choice of location and size of the machining allowances, allowances Technology 5th předlévání holes 6th right kernel, the core of false, tokens nuclei, will 7th technological process of design 8th calculations risers 9th calculations of gating 10th midterm week
