Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Students will be able to choose on the casting drawing a dividing area, allowances, and will bevels.
Students will be able to design gating, risers and vent forms.
Students will be able to devise a procedure for cleaning the casting.
Students will be able to calculate the load form against buoyancy.

Summary
Principles in the design of castings. Requirements for the optimum design.
Proposals of castings. The computer’s simulation of metal feeding into foundry
moulds, solidification and cooling-down of castings, examination of structure
and prediction of the mechanical properties.
