Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
student will be able:
-to analyse and compare basic methods of mould- and core-making;
-to describe basic processes during forming a casting from pouring it up to metal cooling;
-to explain the formation of the most important casting defects;
-to design a technological process of making an art casting (a mould, a gating system, venting).

Summary
Casting as a product of the foundry industry, possibilities and limits, engineering and technologic requirements. Mode of castings production from the design to finishing. Wood and metal patterns making. Molding materials, sand, binders, mold and core making technologies. Specialities of art castings manufacturing.
