Subject aims expressed by acquired skills and competences
Student will be able to describe the design and principles of internal combustion engines of electric drives and hybrid systems. He will also be able to describe the diagnostic methods of motors and control units. the student will acquire knowledge and competence in the field of testing of internal combustion engines and electric drives.

Student will be able to describe the design and principles of internal combustion engines of electric drives and hybrid systems. He will also be able to describe the diagnostic methods of motors and control units. the student will acquire knowledge and competence in the field of testing of internal combustion engines and electric drives.

History, principles, distribution and function of combustion engines.
Idealized cycles - the process and procedure for calculating the cylinder volume, power and compression ratio.
2nd
Timing Systems of combustion engine.
3rd
Analysis of sensors, actuators and passive components of modern combustion engine.
4th
The electronic controls and diagnostics of combustion engines - a theory, principle, equipment, methods.
5th
Ignition and Injection of combustion engine
6th
Measurement of parameters of combustion engine - dynamometer distribution, the dynamometer ÚPTAP, types of tests.
7th
Calibration of sensors on the dynamometer ÚPTAP, data processing and evaluation.
8th
Alternative fuels for combustion engine - CNG, LPG, electricity, hydrogen, biofuels.
9th
Combustion engine emissions, environmental impact. Production of CO, HC and NOx.
Ecology of drives (emissions, catalytic converters, particulate filters).
10th
Electric traction engine as alternative drives for cars.
11th
Saving energy - batteries, Battery management system, the fuel cell.
